Beyond the game

The real Wendiceratops

The Alberta fossils were found through the work of fossil hunter Wendy Sloboda, whom the genus name honors. The site yielded many bones, not merely an isolated horn tip.

Comparing its ornaments with those of Sinoceratops and other relatives helps researchers investigate how horns evolved in this group. Their shapes varied greatly between species and could also change as an animal grew.
