Beyond the game
The real Teratophoneus
Its remains were found in Utah’s Kaiparowits Formation. It lived before Tyrannosaurus rex, in a region also inhabited by large plant-eating dinosaurs.
Tyrannosaurids were not all smaller versions of the same animal. Proportions of the skull, teeth and body reveal distinct branches and help researchers study how these predators changed over millions of years.
