Beyond the game
The real Gorgosaurus
It was a two-legged predator about eight or nine meters long, with numerous sharp teeth. Its small arms ended in two fingers, and it was particularly closely related to Albertosaurus.
Its fossils closely resemble those of Albertosaurus, but details of the skull and teeth distinguish them. Two animals can have very similar outlines without belonging to the same genus.
Tyrannosaurids were large theropods with robust skulls. The family contains several distinct genera: not every large meat-eating dinosaur was a tyrannosaur.
