Beyond the game
The real Saltasaurus
It had a relatively short neck and robust limbs. It was the first sauropod in which small bone plates embedded in the skin were recognized, also later found in other titanosaurs.
The discovery expanded what was known about the body coverage of these animals. Similar plates were later recognized in other titanosaurs, connecting discoveries that previously seemed separate.
Titanosaurs were long-necked sauropods. The group includes giants and relatively small species; membership of the group does not automatically determine body size.
