Beyond the game

The real Peltephilus

Peltephilus was an armored mammal with a distinctive pair of horn-like structures on its skull. Its body and head make it an immediately different relative of familiar armadillo-like forms.

The horn-like skull structures and body armor gave it an unusual outline. Its feeding interpretations have changed, and its teeth do not support a simple inference from an intimidating face.
