Beyond the game

The real Fukuisaurus

It was a herbivorous ornithopod. The species F. tetoriensis was described in 2003 and its name links the animal to the Japanese region of Fukui.

Its skull was found in ancient river deposits of the Kitadani Formation. The rock helps explain how sediment accumulated and where the remains were preserved.

This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
