Beyond the game

The real Einiosaurus

It was a herbivore measuring approximately four and a half meters. The specific name refers to its forward-curving horn and the generic name combines the words "bison" and "lizard."

The shape stands out even among other horned dinosaurs. The scientific name retains references to that curve and the bison, without the dinosaur being closely related to that mammal.

This family includes large dinosaurs with beaks, frills, and horns or bony bumps. These structures help distinguish lineages, but their shape alone cannot establish each species’ behavior.
