Beyond the game
The real Brontosaurus
The original specimen was found at Como Bluff, Wyoming. For a long time it was grouped with Apatosaurus; an analysis published in 2015 proposed recognizing Brontosaurus as a separate genus again.
The separation remains part of scientific debate, although the name has returned to use in modern studies. It is retained here as a genus with that qualification, without pretending that the name’s popularity alone settled the classification.
