Barosaurus

It shared the Morrison Formation with sauropods such as Diplodocus, Apatosaurus and Camarasaurus.

The reconstruction of Barosaurus grew as new excavations added bones to the first finds.

Beyond the game

The real Barosaurus

It was described in 1890 from initially very scarce remains. Later excavations added vertebrae and limb bones to the reconstruction of this large sauropod.

It shared the broad geological setting of the Morrison Formation with sauropods such as Diplodocus, Apatosaurus and Camarasaurus. Studying them in the same context helps researchers compare these enormous animals.

This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
