A normal kebab fits in your hand. A Stegosaurus kebab asks considerably more of the cook. StoryGoat takes the familiar idea of food over hot coals and gives it a wildly oversized prehistoric ingredient.

The imaginary menu

The creator describes giant thigh meat with rock salt, herbs, wild fruit juice and animal fat, cooked over hot coals. These familiar ingredients make the impossible main course feel like a prehistoric version of a recognisable meal.

The video is a fictional, AI-generated cooking scene. Its ingredients and presentation belong to that imagined world; there is no evidence that dinosaur meat tasted a particular way.

What the real Stegosaurus ate

Stegosaurus itself was a plant eater. It lived during the Late Jurassic, long before Tyrannosaurus rex, and moved on four legs beneath two rows of bony plates.

Its plates were not the same structures as the spikes on its tail. Researchers have proposed display and temperature regulation as possible roles for the plates. The tail spikes offered a more direct defensive weapon. Those differences make its silhouette instantly recognisable, even in an imaginary kitchen.

Keep the plates. Skip the grill.
