Beyond the game
The real Yangchuanosaurus
It was one of the great predators of its ecosystem. It shared the landscape with sauropods such as Mamenchisaurus and various stegosaurs, and its general appearance was reminiscent of Allosaurus.
Its snout bore bony ridges and prominences. Knowing animals from the same environment helps rebuild a more complete ecosystem. It is not equivalent to knowing which individual encountered which or which prey a specific predator captured.
This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
