Beyond the game

The real Waptia

Waptia was an early arthropod with a bivalved-looking shield over the front of its body. Long antennae and a narrow segmented rear body give it a recognizable small swimming form.

The carapace covered the front of an arthropod body with antennae and a segmented rear region. That combination distinguishes it from a mollusc enclosed in a separate shell.
