Beyond the game
The real Sivatherium
It was a giraffid with a very heavy body, present in large regions of Africa and Asia. Its history began in the late Miocene and lasted until the early Pleistocene.
It was one of the heaviest known members of the giraffe family. Sharing a family does not mean sharing the proportions of a modern giraffe: fossils from different regions reveal forms far more varied than those alive today.
This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
