Beyond the game

The real Sarcosuchus

It was a large crocodyliform described in 1966. The reference specimen of S. imperator included an incomplete skull collected in Gadoufaoua, in the Sahara.

Numerous parts of the skeleton are known, including bone plates, jaws, and a nearly complete skull. Each one provides information about a different part of this enormous crocodyliform. The specimen used to describe it did not bring together all the material that is currently known.

This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
