Beyond the game

The real Postosuchus

It belonged to the crocodile branch of the archosaurs, rather than the bird branch. It was one of the large predators of its Triassic environment.

It had a robust skeleton, a tall skull and a long tail. It was an archosaur, a group that also includes the branch of birds and dinosaurs. Distinguishing these branches allows it to be placed without confusing it with a carnivorous dinosaur.

This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
