Ouranosaurus

The remains that gave rise to its description were found in Niger in 1966.

Two fairly complete fossils allowed Ouranosaurus to be reconstructed in more detail than many animals known only from fragments.

Beyond the game

The real Ouranosaurus

It was a herbivore of around seven or eight meters. Two fairly complete fossils found in Niger allowed it to be described in 1976.

The remains that gave rise to its description were found in Niger in 1966. Its history links field work with scientific description. Finding a fossil and giving it a name are different steps, separated by the study and comparison of its remains.

This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
