Beyond the game
The real Ornithomimus
It was a fast, feathered animal that walked on two legs, with a small toothless beak. An omnivorous diet has been proposed. The first described remains included a foot and part of a hand.
Besides finds in western North America, remains from the eastern United States have been assigned to this animal. A toothless beak alone cannot reveal an exact diet. An omnivorous menu is therefore a proposed interpretation, not a list of foods directly observed in the fossils.
The so-called “ostrich dinosaurs” had long legs, an elongated neck, and a toothless beak. Resembling an ostrich does not mean they were modern birds.
