Beyond the game

The real Meiolania

Meiolania platyceps was a horned turtle with an armoured tail. Its skull projections and tail rings gave it a form quite different from living tortoises.

The skull horns and rings of tail armor were parts of a turtle skeleton. Their combination gave Meiolania a body outline unlike that of living tortoises.
