Beyond the game

The real Kaprosuchus

It is known from a single, almost complete skull. Its large canine-like teeth inspired the nickname "boar crocodile," but the rest of the body is much less documented.

It is known from a nearly complete skull from Niger’s Echkar Formation, which supports that nickname. Much less is known about the body, so illustrations of its legs, torso and tail rely on more inference than the head.

This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
