Beyond the game

The real Dubreuillosaurus

It was a carnivorous megalosaurid. It was first described as a species of Poekilopleuron, but revision of the skeleton led to recognition of a distinct genus in 2005.

Re-examining the skeleton and its differences led to that change. Its unusually long, low skull is one of the features that distinguish it among megalosaurids.

This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
