Beyond the game
The real Conchoraptor
It was an Asian oviraptorid from the late Cretaceous. It is known with certainty in the Barun Goyot Formation; its presence in other formations is treated with more caution.
It lacked the large bony crest of some other oviraptorids. Not all reports of where it lived are equally secure. Confirmed fossils from Barun Goyot are distinguished from remains assigned to other formations, which need more caution.
This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
