Beyond the game

The real Abelisaurus

It was a bipedal carnivore whose length has been estimated at around seven meters. That figure is uncertain because the only known specimen is a partial skull.

It is known mainly from a skull, one of the finds that helped recognize abelisaurids. That is why its approximate length is calculated by comparing the skull with other animals. The figure guides, but is not a measurement taken from an entire skeleton.

A family of carnivorous theropods particularly well known from the ancient southern continents. It includes animals such as Carnotaurus and Majungasaurus; their relationships are studied by comparing skeletal features, not skin color.
