Beyond the game

The real Macrocollum

Macrocollum had a notably elongated neck for an early sauropodomorph. The combination of a relatively small head and a longer neck offers a recognizable step toward the long-necked body plan.

The elongated neck is documented by the skeleton. It shows that an important part of the later sauropod silhouette appeared before the fully developed giant four-legged body plan.
