Kunbarrasaurus was a small armor bearer whose fossil even preserved food remains. This relatively small armored dinosaur had short legs, a broad head and many bony pieces in its skin. Its protection did not include the enormous tail club seen in some other ankylosaurs: armor varied greatly within the group.

Beyond the game
The real Kunbarrasaurus
An exceptional skeleton was found near Richmond, Queensland. It was linked to Minmi for years, but closer study of the skull and other bones led to Kunbarrasaurus being recognized as a different genus in 2015.
Alongside the skeleton, remains of the animal’s last meal were preserved: a rare opportunity to investigate its diet. Evidence like this lets scientists go beyond working out what an animal ate from its teeth and relatives alone.
