Beyond the game

The real Khaan

Khaan was a small toothless oviraptorid with a beaked head and grasping forelimbs. Its skeleton offers a close view of a branch of dinosaurs whose skulls can look surprisingly bird-like.

The toothless beak and other skull features distinguish this small oviraptorid. A beak alone does not demonstrate the old popular story that every oviraptorosaur specialised in stealing eggs.
