Beyond the game
The real Herrerasaurus
It was a carnivore from the beginning of dinosaur history, capable of measuring around six meters. The name honors the rancher who found the first specimen in 1958.
Its classification was discussed for years because initially it was known from few remains. Its history also shows the importance of having enough remains. When only a few specimens are known, placing an animal among its relatives can be especially difficult.
This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
