Dinosaur

Beipiaosaurus

It was the largest dinosaur with evidence of feathers known before the discovery of Yutyrannus.

Beipiaosaurus preserves traces of plumage that allow us to study more than just the shape of its skeleton.

Beyond the game

The real Beipiaosaurus

This relatively small therizinosauroid is known from several specimens with feather impressions. They reveal both its body covering and clues to its colors.

It was the largest dinosaur with evidence of feathers known before the discovery of Yutyrannus. The discovery of even larger feathered animals changed its place in size comparisons. Scientific records can change when new fossils appear.

This grouping describes evolutionary relationships. Its members share ancestors; they do not form a chain in which one must turn into another.
